Hapkido Philosophy
Hapkido is to be used only to preserve and protect the safety and well-being of human life. It is not to be used as a means to incite violence or to show off. Students are expected to respect and uphold the principles of the art. Hapkido is a martial art , which literally means "the Way of Coordinating Energy." Tiger Shark Hapkido is the evolution of several styles of martial arts with their techniques and skills designed to make a more proficient martial art. Tiger Shark Hapkido can be distinguished from other styles of martial arts by its use of both hard and soft moves and techniques as well as both linear and circular techniques, kicks and punches, and use of pressure points for practical "street" application. It is also comprised of techniques found in Kenpo Karate, Tae Kwon Do, Kuk Sool Won Hapkido, Judo, Jujitsu, Kick Boxing, American Boxing, Great White Crane Kung Fu, Black Tiger Kung Fu, and Hakdari Sohn Hapkido. With a mixture of styles, this gives the practictioner less restrictions in movement and techniques and more room to develop their own individuality. This is, without a doubt, a style to fit today's "world of limits" with a style of ...
